The drug is a CNS stimulant but has the potential of drug abuse if consumption is not controlled. The drug is considered as Schedule 2 controlled substance within the Controlled Substance Act. This means the drug pose the threat of addiction.
- The drug is round in formulation and yellow in color. It has CIBA imprinted on one side and 7 imprinted on the other side.
- The methylphenidate based drug has a strength of 5 mg and available as oral formulation in tablet form.
- The drug is not recommended for people with heart issues, heart defect or high blood pressure problem.
- It is not recommended for pregnant women. It is not suitable for breast feeding mother as it has tendency to be released with the milk and cause adverse impact in the child.
The drug dosage depends on the condition. It is generally recommended by the doctor twice a day and mostly one in empty stomach in the morning.
Possible Side Effects and Avoid Drug Interactions
There are many possible side effects of the drug and hence it must be taken care of. The drug should not be taken by someone with Tourette’s syndrome or a family history of muscle twitch or heart disease. The drug must be stored in moisture free and room temperature condition.
It can cause some side effect like heart problems, seizures, problems with blood circulation, muscle twitches, appetite loss, stomachache, numbness, paleness in color etc. It is necessary to consult a doctor if the side effects tend to continue.
